Screen printing is one of the most traditional and widely used fabric printing methods. It involves using a fine mesh screen, where the design is stenciled onto the screen. Ink is then pushed through the screen onto the fabric to create the desired pattern. It's great for simple and bold designs and works well with cotton, polyester, and other natural fibers.
Digital printing is a modern printing method that involves printing the design directly onto the fabric using specialized inkjet printers. It allows for detailed and complex designs with a wide range of colors. Digital printing is ideal custom designs that have small detail and lots of color in it.
Heat transfer printing involves transferring a design from a special paper or film onto the fabric using heat and pressure. There are two types: Plastisol transfers, which use plastic-based ink, and sublimation transfers, which use dye-based ink that turns into gas and bonds with polyester fibers. Heat transfer is specifically used for sportswear and on 100% polyester material.
Discharge printing involves applying a chemical mixture to the fabric that removes the dye, creating a bleached or faded effect. The design is then printed on the discolored fabric using pigments or dyes. It works best on dark-colored fabrics and is interestedly creates a vintage or distressed looks.
Foil printing involves using heat and pressure to apply metallic foil to the fabric, creating a shiny and reflective surface. When you would like to add interesting accents and embellishments to your designs, this will do it!
Flock printing uses adhesive and finely chopped fibers (flock) to create a raised, velvety texture on the fabric. The flock is applied to the fabric in the desired design using a specialized printing technique.
Water-based printing uses ink that is water-soluble and eco-friendly. It's a more environmentally friendly option compared to plastisol ink used in traditional screen printing.
Also known as burnout printing, is a unique fabric printing technique that creates intricate and semi-transparent patterns on textiles. The word "devoré" comes from the French term meaning "to devour" or "to burn out," which aptly describes the process involved in this method.
Each printing technique has its advantages and limitations, so the choice of method depends on factors such as the fabric type, complexity of the design, production scale, and desired visual effect. Some more advise needed, we are happy to help.
